This is us!

In thoughtful review of our 2007, I realize that throughout all our travels, adventure, changes, graduations, new beginnings and daily life we have been surrounded by family and friends to share it all with. This blog is dedicated to each of you . . . for you make our days, weeks and years more special and memorible. THANKS! Let me just mention here that I experience my world visually - so now you will understand my need to share photos :o)

As you can see from the photo - life is a celebration for us. We aren't big "partiers", yet we love to take time to celebrate special events, moments in time and even enjoy making a special event out of the ordinary.

My family rocks!!! I am the lucky mother of 2 beautiful boys Britain & Colter and am honored to share my days with the love of my life . . . Todd.

We are cozy in our 1910 Victorian farmhouse (now that there is electricity and plumbing). For the past 4 years we have lovingly and eclectically renovated our home while learning all about life in the country here in small town Texas.

If I were to sum up in one word about our community, it would be "tradition". We are the Thorndale Bulldogs and everyone honors and pays tribute to each sporting event. Our community literally revolves around the school which in turn creates a strong community bond from the young to the old. It is amazing to experience and something I believe humankind's foundation is based upon . . . a strong need for community. We have found this community to be supportive, compassionate and a solid place to call home while raising our family. Also the best neighbors anyone could ask for. Thank You Thorndale! Our boys have been honored by participating in football and endured the -30 degrees (okay that is exagerating a bit) playoff games as well as taking STATE in basketball!! Fun for all, but even more important are the values and discipline that being part of a team has brought to our boys.

Okay, now back to 2007. Our year began as many do, blustery, wintery and with the desire to just hunker down until the Spring sunshine warmed us up. March brought the excitement of friends from Utah as we traveled to San Antonio for the first WomenSpeak conference. Dominique, Paula, Anneke, Sarah and myself enjoyed 3 powerful days connecting with 100's of other beautiful women of all ages and all walks of life in search of something deeper in life and a shared desire for peace. Let me just say that this powerful event kick-started 2007 to be the most profound personal year yet. http://www.womenspeak2007.com/

We enjoyed Easter in beautiful Georgia with Scott, Theresa, Greg and Zac at their beautiful home just outside of Atlanta. Todd's mother Bev and Rob also traveled in for a real family reunion. We absolutely were treated like royalty which included a Braves game . . . season opener in fact. We visited CNN, downtown Atlanta, got some shopping in and the boys played golf a couple times. It was such a treat and we appreciate Scott & T's generosity.

Britain qualified to compete in the Texas state High School Debate, and he and his debate partner Preston were amazing. Todd and I got to set in on their first match and were awe-struck by the presentation and professionalism of Britain and Preston. One majorly proud Mommy moment! They also qualified to go to Nationals with the Nationals Forensic League and had a great experience with coach Aaron Holman there to support them.

In April Todd and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary! I can hardly believe it has been 20 years and yet can't imagine ever not being together. We celebrated with many of our dearest friends with a night on the town in Austin. What a great memory and such a huge honor to have our busy friends take time to celebrate and shower us with attention. We had an anniversary to remember!

May brought more travel and this time it was to Vegas. Todd and I enjoyed a week with our dear friends, Paula and Dan Engelhardt in sin city. Which is really ironic because my whole reason for being there was to participate in a spiritual conference sponsored by Hay House publishing. It is a huge event and brought many of my favorite mystical and spiritual authors, speakers and practitioners together in one place. What a way to celebrate my birthday! Again this event dramatically shifted my personal awareness in 2007. I strongly suggest the I Can Do It (mind/body/soul retreat) to anyone interested in diving deeper into their own personal awareness. http://www.icandoit.net/

May ended with Britain's graduation from high school. What an amazing event and something again supported by the entire community. We had friends and family travel far and wide to pay tribute to Britain and share this special event. I still marvel at the gifts, contributions to his college fund and support that was demonstrated. THANKS to all!
